PBYFL's Meaning
You can sum up the major ingredients that make up the Permian Basin in 3 words Faith, Family, and Football. The PBYFL took those three elements to heart and created a league that embraces all three. The PBYFL is a
non-profit Christian based organization. By "Christian based" we mean put God first and teach the kids to give him the glory win or lose. Pastor Mickey Eckels from Mid-Cities church was kind enough to introduce us to his "First things First" program that educates the kids spiritually while at the same time learning the sport. Prayer will be said before all games. Being Christian's ourselves we are tolerant of other faiths and the league will not discriminate based on that. All faiths are welcome in this league but that being said we are first and foremost a Christian organization and this league will be used as a vessel to reach as many of the youth in the Permian Basin as we can. The family aspect is addressed by creating an environment where the whole family can come and have a great time watching their child, sibling, grandchild, perfrom and know that it is a safe environment. We will have concessions full of food and drinks availble to enjoy during the game. There will be security on site to ensure the safety of the families and participants alike. In this day and age you cannot take anything or any place , for granted so we take the extra precautions to set your mind at ease.
Tackle Division
We will teach your child the basics of the sport this state is known for. We strive only to prepare them for the next level as best as we can. Wins and losses will be recorded to teach them not only physically but emotionally the value of hard work, dedication, and teamwork. All teams will run a Power-I offense and a standard 4-3 defense in Division 1 so that all players will be equally prepared when taking that next step. Divisions 2 & 3 will have a significantly larger variety of plays and formations at the coaches disposal to create a more competitive division. Our coaches will be screened and interviewed to ensure that not only are they of good character but have a knowledge of the game that will create a level playing field league wide. There will be one game a week played on Saturdays. Teams are allowed to begin practices August 1st, and are limited to only not being able to practice on Wednesdays. Total number of games in the regular season will depend on turnout and number of teams. The season will end with a playoff and then Consolation and Super Bowls. Two weeks after the Super Bowl will be the All-Star game. Players will keep all of their equipment from helmet down to their socks , and will have the option of using it the following season or purchasing all new equipment. The one exception to this is the uniform itself, wear and tear and the fit of the uniform are the reason we require those be ordered every season. This has the potential to be a great league and do great things in our community but will take the effort and cooperation of its participants, family, and board members. Lets make this the best it can be and have fun doing so. Tackle starts at $285. At registration you will be able to customize your equipment and make your own packages.
Flag Division
The Flag Football Division is for kids in Pre-Kindergarten through 4th grade for spring and Pre-K through 1st in the Fall. This division is to establish the basic fundamentals of football prior to tackle. The kids will be taught the basic techniques for blocking, correct stance, center/quarterback exchange etc. As with the tackle division the flag division will have score kept and team records will determine what place they get. This is to teach them that hardwork and determination will benefit them and the value of practicing. There will be TASO certified referees for these games as well to insure fair and quality officiating. Youth participating in this division will pay a registration fee of $90.00. This fee includes a full uniform, shirt, shorts, field fees, officiating fees, and other expenses. The uniforms will be designed to resemble 10 well known NFL teams that both the players and parents will recognize. Flag games will be played on Saturdays beginning at 10:00 A.M. Teams will play every team at least once. There will be a playoff format to decide who plays in the Super Bowl. All-Star game will be played 2 weeks after the Super Bowl.
